Hi… I just wanted to take a minute to write a note to you guys to thank you for compiling this informative and fun compendium. It’s been a delight to look through the articles and I’m going to have to make a trip down to South Florida (I’m a native of the Panhandle who recently relocated to Chicago) sometime in hopes of my own encounter. Take care!

i;m pretty sure that there is a skunk ape that lives or travels thru our area, i live about 16 miles outside chipley fl. pretty far down in a hollow, surounded by creeks and wet land. we;ve lived here for 9 years now and every year from feb. to april or so, we hear lots of walking thru the woods by something large and on two legs, we;ll also here screams kind of mixed with a mone sound and grunts, and it offten sounds like it beats sticks or something on trees, i seen a very large foot print once, but the ground is always to wet to hold prints so this was the only time. my son said that one late afternoon, he was out back and seen something standing very still side ways next to a tree at the tree line, it was a lite brown and stood around 6 or 7 feet tall with longbody hair, then very slowly steped back out of sight, and once about 3 years ago i was leaving for work early, it was still dark out and heard a branch crack, so i turned the flash light towards the sound and just over the creek i caught sight of 3 sets of eyes,in the thick woods, spaced apart about the same as a mans, one was low maybe 4 foot tall and the other 6 and 7 feet or so tall. what they were i dont know. i have never seen anything face to face, but have heard and seen the things i listed above many times over the last 9 years, this year all we;ve heard so far is walking, and that beatting sound on a tree, all at night and just before day light.
