Siliguri, March 30: Nearly half-a-century ago, Bhanu Banerjee accompanied legendary climber Edmund Hillary to a Himalayan expedition in pursuit of the Abominable Snowman and came back with some incredible memories.

“Every single moment of the expedition is still fresh in my mind. The fact that I was with Sir Edmund Hillary, listening to first-hand tales of the Everest Conquest, was extremely fulfilling,” said Banerjee.

The aim of the 1961-62 expedition, however, was not the highest mountain on earth, but the mythical creature, yeti. World Book Encyclopedia had sponsored the Himalayan Scientific and Mountaineering Expedition.

“We wanted to find out if the yeti existed or not,” Banerjee said. “We went from one remote village to another up to 19,000ft and returned assured that the yeti is just a myth,” Banerjee said.

The Derry area has many annual traditions–including the summer agricultural fair in the township and, recently revived, the fall Railroad Days festival in the borough.

Another yearly occurrence in that neck of the woods is several reported sightings of a fellow whose shoes would be hard to fill–that is, if he wore any.

We’re talking about Bigfoot, whose exploits are among the unusual phenomena cataloged annually by Stan Gordon–a Greensburg resident who has specialized in researching unexplained happenings in Pennsylvania and beyond since 1959.

Loren Coleman is a leading authority on some diverse topics.

He has a master’s degree in clinical social work and has worked for years as a researcher and consultant in the field of suicide prevention and school violence, all over the country.

But he also has degrees in anthropology and zoology, and over the years he’s become a national figure in cryptozoology, the area of documenting new or unknown animals. Cryptozoology includes the study of legendary mystery creatures like Bigfoot or the Abominable Snowman, as well as the search for not-yet-documented birds, reptiles or cats.

Coleman, 60, is a former adjunct professor at the University of Southern Maine and has written 30 books on cryptozoology and related fields. He’s also consulted on TV shows like NBC’s “Unsolved Mysteries,” the History Channel’s “Monster Quest,” and A&E’s “Ancient Mysteries.”

This is an excerpt from a post made in the abovetopsecret.com forum.

About 8 p.m. tonight the dogs were out in the dog yard raising holy hell. Barking like I have never heard them bark in their lives. Daughter went to let them in and when she was on her way back from the kennel building, she let out the most spine chilling scream I have ever heard. She finally managed to get in the house and was HYSTERICAL. Read the rest of this entry »

“We’d been there a half an hour and suddenly we heard screaming” Witness

This Queensbury resident asked us to keep his identity a secret but he remembers the day he was picnicking with his wife in the Adirondacks just outside of Fort Ann: what they encountered they weren’t prepared for.

“In your scope of perspective of what you know things like that shouldn’t be making that noise out there in the woods.” Witness

Think about this. We send probes to other planets to check them out. Our probes collect soil samples and analyze them on the spot. We even sent a probe to crash into an asteroid—and our Voyager 1 probe has traveled over 9 billion miles from the sun. Now, imagine we have time-traveled 100 years into the future, to a time when humans have developed the technology to send manned missions to other worlds. What would we do if we journeyed to a planet, only to discover sentient beings living there? These beings possess technology far inferior to ours; in fact, they seem downright primitive in comparison. What would we do?

I have often talked about the Bigfoot-UFO connection, and how a lot of researchers want to censor sightings in order to avoid that connection. Whenever I talk about this connection, I get asked the same question: What exactly is the connection?

Charleston Daily Mail
by Kris Wise

People who believe in Bigfoot will be trudging through the West Virginia woods in a couple of months hoping for a close encounter with the legendary creature.

The Mountain State has been picked by the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, considered the nation’s authority on the search for Sasquatch, as the site of an April expedition. Based on the number of recent reports by people who claim they’ve seen the hairy apelike animal in person, Bigfoot experts and devoted believers think there’s a good shot they’ll find some evidence of its existence in the state.
