CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Next month’s hunt for Sasquatch in West Virginia will center around the Greenbrier River region.

The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization Founder and Director Mathew Moneymaker recently released new details about the April 10-13 hunt.

Earlier, the group had declined to release the location of the expedition, fearing that curiosity seekers would compromise the results.

More than 50 West Virginia sightings are documented on the group’s Web site, which says there have been 23 reported sightings in Virginia in the past 50 years. The most recent were in 2004, in Scott and Franklin counties.

BIGFOOT is a legendary street artist from California and he has unleashed some amazing work at Andenken Gallery. Using a variety of “canvases” this show features amazing pieces including hand painted BIGFOOT/FEET flower pots and an original drawing that was used for the BIGFOOT/Andenken show print. This image will be featured in a prominent magazine in the very near future. Below is a small preview of the show… more to come on Saturday.

By Barry Bergman, Public Affairs, UC Berkley News.

On the heels of Darwin Day, the Hearst Museum displays plaster casts of alleged Sasquatch footprints — and ponders the nature of evidence and truth.

Bigfoot? At Berkeley?

Hold your fire, if not your skepticism. In the equivocal spirit of sightings of Bigfoot himself — according to folklore and a handful of so-called cryptozoologists, a towering, human-like hominid that roams the dense forests of the American Northwest and British Columbia on two legs — casts of what may or may not be the creature’s footprints are now on view at the Hearst Museum of Anthropology.

“We’d been there a half an hour and suddenly we heard screaming” Witness

This Queensbury resident asked us to keep his identity a secret but he remembers the day he was picnicking with his wife in the Adirondacks just outside of Fort Ann: what they encountered they weren’t prepared for.

“In your scope of perspective of what you know things like that shouldn’t be making that noise out there in the woods.” Witness

May he rest in peace.

Web site Cryptomundo.com’s correspondents Eric Altman and Paul Johnson have sent along word today that Pennsylvania Bigfoot researcher Sam Sherry, 86, has passed away. Sherry died at the Veteran’s Hospital yesterday, February 22, 2008, at 1 p.m.

The viewing and funeral will be at Snyder’s funeral home in Ligonier, Pennsylvania.

Altman writes: “For those who knew Sam or had the pleasure of meeting Sam, he was one of a kind and a real character….

Even into his 80’s, without sight or hearing, Sam still traveled up to the Chestnut Ridge to hunt for Bigfoot. I spent most of my early days researching with Sam. Unfortunately I had not seen him in the past few years. He will be sadly missed.”

The Olympian
January 24, 2008
By Rolf Boone

OLYMPIA — Forty-one years after video of a hairy, ape-like creature spawned debate about the existence of Sasquatch, one of the men who shot the film addressed believers and doubters Saturday in Olympia.

Robert Gimlin of Yakima, one of two men who said they witnessed a creature in 1967 in Northern California, held the rapt attention of more than 100 people at the State Capital Museum. The hourlong presentation drew so much interest that some had to be turned away, museum manager Susan Rohrer said.
